FA message watcher
Welcome to the crappy webpage for the FA message watcher, the android app that checks your FA account to see if you have new messages. It will pop up an icon if you do. Yaay!
The app is a heavy work in progress. I'm fairly sure I've now found and fixed the problems that were leading to missed messages and duplicate notifications. There is a logging facility in place which has proven invaluable in tracking down some of these bugs. If you find the app gives up checking or misses something, mail me your log! It will be a big help.
Important things you should know:
- As mentioned above, the app saves a log to the sd card. It contains your message counts for every time FA is checked. It also logs when you clear the notification or launch the app. Every line in the file is tagged with the time of day. This is to help knock out the updating bug. If you aren't comfortable with this, you'll have to wait for a later release.
- Don't forget to hit the settings link (or long-press your account name) after adding your account to tweak the notification settings (sound, color, etc.)
- The numbers on the main screen (123S, 4C, 2N) work like they do on FA, and should link you to the right place if you tap them.
- All accounts are removed if you uninstall the app (as is the log file). To remove just one account, you have to go to "Accounts & sync" under your phone's settings.
- The main screen does not update dynamically; only when it's first opened. If new messages come in, the values you see won't change until you hit "back" and re-enter the app. This should be fixed in the future.
- New in alpha 7: You can now choose not to be notified if message counts go down! Hit "menu" on the main screen and go to the settings entry.
- Make sure you check the "Watcher enabled" box, otherwise it won't do anything.
- The icons and overall look both need work, I am well aware of this. "Function first, then form", I say.
- I need feedback! Thoughts, ideas, anything you think sucks, it's all helpful. If enough people complain about something I'll know I need to change it.

I'll try to respond, but please don't be too mad if the answer is "sorry, I may never get around to fixing that". This app is a project I do in my spare time, which I don't have much of. It's free, so I make no promises that it'll work right or at all :).
